Most answers to aluminium fencing cost in Brisbane stop at “it depends”. This page does not. Below are our supply-only prices for panels, posts, caps, brackets and gates, what they work out to per lineal metre, and a fully itemised worked example for a 20-metre boundary with one pedestrian gate. These are indicative starting prices from our Slacks Creek yard, current as at August 2026 and confirmed on quote.

The short answer
Supply-only panels (2400 mm wide; 2350 mm in vertical picket): horizontal slat from $279, vertical picket from $368, welded vertical blade from $399.
Per lineal metre, counting panel, post, cap and brackets: from about $169/m for slat, $206/m for picket, $219/m for blade.
A 20-metre boundary with one pedestrian gate in horizontal slat works out from about $4,083 supply-only: itemised further down.
Installed is quoted per site after a measure. Delivery, concrete and any electrical work are charged separately.
Indicative aluminium fencing prices (supply)
Every panel we make is 2400 mm wide ( 2350 mm in vertical picket) and comes in a 1200 mm or 1800 mm standard height, powder-coated in Black, Monument or White. The prices below are supply-only, per panel, and they are the same wholesale prices whether you are a homeowner doing it yourself or a fencing contractor buying by the trailer load.
| Panel profile | Panel size | Standard heights | From (supply-only, per panel) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horizontal slat | 2400 mm wide | 1200 mm / 1800 mm | from $279 |
| Vertical picket | 2350 mm wide | 1200 mm / 1800 mm | from $368 |
| Welded vertical blade | 2400 mm wide | 1200 mm / 1800 mm | from $399 |
The “from” figure is the entry price for that profile. A 1800 mm privacy height sits above it, and custom widths and heights are priced exactly rather than “from”. See the three profiles compared in our slat, picket and blade style guide.
Posts, gates and hardware
Panels are only part of a fence. These are the other supply-only line items, and they are what the per-metre maths in the next section is built from.
| Item | Supply-only price | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| In-ground post 65 × 65 × 2400 mm | $61.99 | Dug in and concreted: soil, grass or garden bed |
| Flange post (bolt-down) | from $41.99 | Bolts to an existing slab or footing: no digging |
| Post cap | $5 | One per post, powder-coated to match |
| Fence panel bracket | $15 | Fixes panel rails to the post |
| Pedestrian gate | from $295 | Side or front access, matched to your panel style |
| Driveway gate | Free quote | Sliding, single leaf |
| Double-leaf swing gate | Free quote | Two leaves swinging in from each side |
| Sliding gate motor | from $770 | Automation for a sliding driveway gate |
| Swing gate motor | from $1,100 | Automation for a swing driveway gate |
| Carport sandwich panel | from $420 | Insulated roofing panel: carports and patios |

What that works out to per lineal metre
Panels are priced per panel, but almost everyone budgets per metre. Because a panel covers 2.4 lineal metres, the conversion is easy to do yourself. A continuous run repeats the same bay over and over: one panel, one post, one post cap and a set of brackets every 2.4 m. Price that bay, divide by 2.4, and you have your rate per metre.
| Panel profile | Panels only, per metre | Panel + post + cap + brackets, per metre |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal slat | from about $116 | from about $169 |
| Vertical picket | from about $153 | from about $206 |
| Welded vertical blade | from about $166 | from about $219 |
Worked from the supply-only prices above: one 2400 mm panel, one $61.99 in-ground post, one $5 cap and four $15 brackets per 2.4 m bay, divided by 2.4. Rounded to the nearest dollar.
Two things move that rate. Building off an existing slab swaps the in-ground post for a $41.99 bolt-down flange post, which takes roughly $8 a metre off. And a real boundary always costs a little more per metre than the bay rate, because a run needs a post to finish each end and either side of every gate: on a short run those extra posts are spread over fewer metres. The worked example below counts them exactly.
These rates are for the fence materials only. If you are pricing DIY against a timber quote, our aluminium vs timber fence cost comparison puts the two side by side over the life of the fence.
What affects the price of your fence?
Two fences of the same length can land at very different prices. The main factors are:
Length & height: more panels and taller (e.g. 1.8m privacy) panels cost more than a standard 1.2m run. For what you can build without council approval, see our Queensland fence height rules guide.
Style: picket is usually the most economical; tightly-spaced slat and deep blade panels use more material.
Gates: a pedestrian gate or an automated driveway gate adds materially to the total (see below).
Powder-coat colour & finish: standard colours are the most cost-effective.
Supply-only vs installed: DIY supply is the cheapest route; installation adds labour but saves you the work.
Site access & ground: sloping or hard-to-reach boundaries can affect installation.
Supply-only vs installed
Because we supply both trade and the public, you can keep costs down by buying panels supply-only and installing them yourself, or have us handle the install. DIY kits are designed to go together with basic tools, and you can pick up from our Slacks Creek yard or arrange delivery. If you’d prefer it done for you, we’ll quote supply and install together.
One scope note: we supply boundary, privacy, front and commercial fencing. We do not supply pool-safety barriers, and our fencing is not sold or certified as pool-compliant: if you need a pool barrier, use a supplier licensed for pool fencing.
Worked example: a 20-metre boundary with one pedestrian gate
Here is a complete bill of materials for a common job: 20 m of horizontal slat fencing with a pedestrian gate at one end, on in-ground posts concreted into soil.
The quantities come out like this. Twenty metres divided by 2.4 gives 8 full panels covering 19.2 m, leaving 0.8 m: which we make as a custom-width end panel rather than leaving a gap, so 9 panels. A straight run of 9 panels needs 10 posts, and hanging the pedestrian gate off the end post adds one more, so 11 posts: one cap each, and four brackets per panel.
| Line item | Qty | Unit | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horizontal slat panel, 2400 mm wide (one made to 800 mm) | 9 | from $279 | from $2,511 |
| In-ground post 65 × 65 × 2400 mm | 11 | $61.99 | $681.89 |
| Post cap | 11 | $5 | $55 |
| Fence panel bracket | 36 | $15 | $540 |
| Pedestrian gate | 1 | from $295 | from $295 |
| Supply-only subtotal | from about $4,083 |
Indicative only. The 800 mm end panel is shown here at the standard panel rate; custom widths are priced exactly on quote. Your panel and post count also changes with corners, gate positions, and whether the run finishes against a house or wall: we count it exactly on quote.
Spread across the boundary that is about $204 a metre including the gate, or about $189 a metre for the fence on its own. Both sit above the $169 bay rate from the previous section, and that gap is the honest part: finishing posts at each end and either side of the gate, plus a part-width panel, are real costs that a tidy per-metre figure hides.
Supply-only versus installed for this job
Supply-only is the figure above. You collect free from our Slacks Creek yard or we deliver for a charge, and you dig the holes, concrete the posts and bolt the panels up. Our guides on measuring up and installing panels cover the method, and DIY slat fencing walks through a full job.
Installed is the same materials plus measure and set-out, post holes and footings, panel and gate fitting, and hanging and adjusting the gate. We quote installation per site rather than publishing a rate per metre, because ground type, slope, access and whether an old fence has to come out move the labour far too much for a published figure to be honest. Send us the boundary and we will price both columns together: ask for a supply-only and installed quote and compare them side by side.
What the price does not include
Being clear about the exclusions is what makes the numbers above useful. None of the figures on this page include:
Delivery. Pick-up from our Slacks Creek yard is free. Delivery across South East Queensland is charged on top and quoted with your order: see our service areas.
Concrete. We do not supply it. In-ground posts need to be concreted in, and as a rule of thumb you can allow around two 20 kg bags of rapid-set per post from your local hardware store.
The electrician for an automated gate. We supply and fit gate motors, but the power connection is not included: you arrange your own licensed electrician to run power to the gate.
Installation labour, if you are buying supply-only. That is the whole point of the supply-only price.
Gate hardware that is not already in the gate. Some pedestrian gates come with a lock fitted and some do not, so hinges and a latch may be a separate line: we spell out what is included on the quote.
Site works such as retaining, stepping a sloping block, or removing an old fence.
How we price a job
Everything is made to order at the Slacks Creek yard, which is why custom widths and heights are priced exactly rather than “from”. Many custom orders are ready for collection the next day. There is no minimum order (a single $5 post cap is as welcome as a full boundary) and DIY customers pay the same wholesale rates as trade. A written quote is valid for 30 days from the date we send it, so you have time to compare it properly. Prices on this page are indicative starting points; the quote is the number that counts.
Why aluminium is cheaper over the long run
Aluminium often isn’t the cheapest fence on day one, but it tends to be the cheapest to own. It doesn’t rust, doesn’t rot or attract termites like timber, and the powder-coat finish shrugs off Queensland sun and humidity with little more than an occasional hose-down: no sanding, oiling or repainting. Over a 15 to 20 year horizon that low maintenance usually makes it better value than timber, and very competitive with steel. For a direct comparison, see our guide on aluminium fence vs Colorbond.
Don’t forget gates & automation
Gates are almost always the biggest single line item on a fencing quote, and they are where budgets get away from people. Supply-only starting prices: pedestrian gates from $295, sliding and double-leaf swing driveway gates by free quote (assembled or fully welded), a sliding gate motor from $770 and a swing gate motor from $1,100: all made in your fence style and powder-coat colour.
One thing to budget for separately: the motor price does not include the power connection. You arrange your own licensed electrician to get power to the gate. Our gate motor buyer’s guide covers sliding versus swing, remotes and what to ask the electrician for.
How to get an accurate price
The fastest way to a firm number is to tell us your approximate fence length, the height you want, your preferred style (slat, picket or blade), and whether you need any gates. Not sure how to measure up? Our guide on how to measure for aluminium fencing walks you through it. Tell us the surface too (soil or an existing slab) because that decides whether you need in-ground or bolt-down posts, and it is worth about $8 a metre. We’ll put together supply-only or installed pricing for your project: just get in touch for a quote.
Frequently asked questions
How much does aluminium fencing cost per metre?
Supply-only, counting the panel, post, cap and brackets for each 2.4 m bay, aluminium fencing starts from about $169 a lineal metre in horizontal slat, about $206 in vertical picket and about $219 in welded vertical blade. A real boundary runs slightly above those rates because of the extra posts needed to finish each end and either side of a gate: our 20-metre worked example lands at about $204 a metre including a pedestrian gate. Installed pricing is quoted per site.
What’s the cheapest aluminium fence style?
Picket is generally the most budget-friendly because it uses less material than tightly-spaced slat or deep blade panels. If you are coming at it from the other direction and starting from a budget rather than a material, our guide to the cheapest fencing options in Brisbane ranks the whole field.
Is aluminium cheaper than Colorbond?
Upfront they’re often comparable; aluminium tends to win on long-term cost because it doesn’t rust and needs very little maintenance. See our aluminium vs Colorbond guide for the full comparison.
Do you offer supply-only, or installation too?
Both. You can buy panels supply-only for a DIY install (free pick-up from Slacks Creek, or delivery across SEQ for a charge), or we can measure, make and install for you across South East Queensland. Trade and public pay the same wholesale supply rates.
How much does a 20 metre aluminium fence cost in Brisbane?
Supply-only, 20 m of horizontal slat fencing with a pedestrian gate at one end works out from about $4,083: 9 panels from $279, 11 in-ground posts at $61.99, 11 caps at $5, 36 brackets at $15 and a pedestrian gate from $295. That is about $204 a metre with the gate included. Installed pricing is quoted after a site measure.
What is not included in your fencing prices?
Delivery (pick-up from our yard is free), concrete for in-ground posts, installation labour if you are buying supply-only, and the electrician for an automated gate: gate motors are supplied and fitted but the power connection is arranged by you. Site works such as retaining or removing an old fence are also quoted separately.
How long is a quote valid, and is there a minimum order?
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date we send them, and there is no minimum order: you can buy a single post cap or a full boundary. Everything is made to order in custom widths and heights, and many custom orders are ready for collection from Slacks Creek the next day.
Do you supply pool fencing?
No. FY Fencing supplies boundary, privacy, front and commercial fencing. We do not supply pool-safety barriers and our fencing is not sold or certified as pool-compliant, so if you need a barrier around a swimming pool you will need a supplier licensed for that work.
