Why FY for Logan

Most of Logan City is within a quarter of an hour of the yard: Springwood about 6 minutes up the Pacific Highway, Daisy Hill and Underwood about 8, Rochedale South and Kingston about 9, Woodridge and Shailer Park about 10, and Loganholme about 12 minutes down the M1.

  • Made to order, welded to suit the block

Every panel is made at Slacks Creek in slat, picket or blade style, 2400 mm wide (vertical picket 2350 mm), 1200 mm or 1800 mm high, in Black (Night Sky), Monument or White. Custom sizes are normal, and a custom order placed today is often ready tomorrow. Welded panels are made locally to suit the terrain, so a sloping block in Daisy Hill gets panels raked or stepped to follow the ground, measured by us.

  • Licensed installation, or supply-only

Installation work is led by the director, Kejin Yang, who holds an active QBCC trade contractor licence (no. 15027695). Or buy a supply-only DIY kit at wholesale prices, collect it free from the yard or have it delivered across South East Queensland for a charge quoted per suburb. Our aluminium fencing page covers the full range.

“Great Service! From start to finish very quick to install and very good communication. We got 2 x aluminium fences one with a pedestrian gate and the other with double gates. Would highly recommend.”

Stacey Fields

“Kelly at FY Fencing was very helpful throughout. I messaged them with the dimensions as I needed custom 40 X 40 mm aluminium slats for my retaining wall. The pricing was very reasonable. I also got their installation service and I am so happy with the way they installed the slats on my retaining wall. They tidied up the site after their work was done and even washed up the fence and wall. I highly recommend FY Fencing to anyone who is looking to get aluminium fence and gates.”

Shashank Tamgadge

“We love our new aluminium powder coated slat fence and gate. The quality is excellent and the installers were very professional with strong attention to detail. Kelly was really responsive throughout the process and easy to deal with. We went into the warehouse and looked at the variety of fencing options, the installer came out to measure and they had to customise the lengths of fencing to make it work. We are super happy with the end result.”

“Couldn't be happier with the service and fence provided! From the beginning, communication was great. The team were very responsive over phone and email. We also were able to have a look at the showroom to give us options for our fencing (and were shown pictures and videos of previous jobs to give us a good idea of how it would look). The actual work carried out was fantastic. The team were working non-stop over extremely hot days and made sure everything was perfect. They were efficient, precise and punctual. We are so happy with the end result. We have already been complimented on the fence and will be recommending FY Fencing to everyone. Thankyou!”

Logan suburbs we supply and install

The whole Logan City Council area is a short run, but our busiest streets sit either side of the Pacific Motorway between the Springwood and Loganholme exits, from Underwood Marketplace through the ridges of Daisy Hill and Shailer Park to the homes around Logan Hyperdome. West of the M1 we are regularly in Woodridge, Logan Central and Kingston, and near the Griffith University Logan campus at Meadowbrook (4131). Cornubia is about 10 km, Browns Plains about 12 km beyond the Logan Motorway, Beenleigh about 17 km down the M1 and Jimboomba about 30 km. Anything else is on the service areas list, or the Brisbane southside page if you are north of Underwood.

What Logan blocks throw at a fence line

  • Clay soil and sloping blocks

Few fence lines on the ridges through Daisy Hill, Shailer Park and Rochedale South are flat, and the clay moves between wet and dry, so posts get proper footings and panels follow the fall. Cut-and-fill blocks put the fence on a retaining wall; our fence on a retaining wall guide covers what to check first.

  • Storm season

Summer storms across the Logan River flats push hard on a solid fence. Welded aluminium takes it far better than tired timber, and our storm damaged fence guide covers who pays when a neighbour’s tree lands on yours.

  • Older timber fences

Much of Woodridge, Kingston and Springwood still runs on timber past saving. Replacing a shared boundary usually starts with a written notice, and our notice to contribute guide walks through it.

  • Brick piers

Older brick-pier fronts take aluminium infill panels well: each bay is measured on its own, cut to width at the yard and bracket-fixed, as our installation guide shows.

  • Corner blocks

Check your survey plan and read our corner block fence rules guide before ordering a solid run to the corner.

Aluminium suits all five: no rust, a 10 year warranty on the aluminium, and bolt-on panels.

Logan City Council fencing rules, in plain English

  • Up to 2 metres, generally no building approval

A domestic fence up to 2 metres generally needs no building approval. Taller, or sitting on a retaining wall, is a check-with-council job; our fence height rules guide has the state-wide picture.

  • Dividing fences are not council business

Logan City Council has no authority over dividing-fence disputes; those run under the Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011, and QCAT decides.

  • Backing onto a park? Council is not an adjoining owner, so it does not contribute to a fence between parkland and a residential lot.

  • Near the rivers

Near the Logan and Albert rivers, check the flood hazard overlay on your property report before you plan a solid fence.

  • Corner lots

Corner lots are often truncated at the intersection, so build to the truncation shown on your survey plan.

For anything else, ring Logan City Council on 07 3412 3412 or check your survey plan, and bring any estate covenant to the quote.

Driveway gates and sliding gates in Logan

Driveway gates in Logan are mostly a slope problem. Springwood and Shailer Park are full of short, steep driveways where a swing gate hits the rising concrete, so a sliding gate along the fence line is the usual answer; for sliding gates in Logan we set the ground track to the driveway fall first. Where the block is flat but there is no side room to slide into, a single or double swing gate does the job.

  • Motors, builds and the free measure

Every driveway gate is made to order, assembled or fully welded, and quoted per job because width, fall and motor all vary. Sliding gate motors start from $770 and swing gate motors from $1,100; the power connection is not included, so you arrange an electrician. Our guide to measuring a driveway gate shows what to check, or book a free measure and quote through the driveway gate page. Matching pedestrian gates start from $295.

Supply-only, or measure, make and install

  • Supply-only DIY kit

Wholesale pricing on panels, posts, caps, brackets, hardware and gates (driveway gates come assembled or fully welded), collected free or delivered. For fencing supplies in Logan it suits DIYers and the trades, and the yard also stocks carport and roofing sandwich panels.

  • Measure, make and install

We measure, make the panels at the yard and install anywhere in South East Queensland, the sensible route when the job includes an automated gate on a sloping driveway. The quick facts page has sizes, colours and warranty in one place.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do I need council approval for a fence in Springwood or Daisy Hill?

For a domestic fence up to 2 metres high, generally no building approval is needed in the Logan City Council area, which is why most of the fences we make for Springwood and Daisy Hill are 1800 mm high. If you want something taller, or the fence will sit on top of a retaining wall on a cut-and-fill block, treat it as a check-with-council job before you order and ring council on 07 3412 3412. Estate covenants in the newer estates can also set front fence height, style and colour, so read yours and bring it to the quote. Our fence height rules guide covers the state-wide picture in more detail.

Who pays for a dividing fence between neighbours in Woodridge?

Not Logan City Council. Council has no authority over dividing-fence disputes; they run under the Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011, and QCAT decides when neighbours cannot agree. In practice most Woodridge jobs start with a conversation over the fence and a written notice to contribute, and the fastest way to make that conversation easy is a firm quote. FY Fencing will measure the shared boundary and price the panels, posts and gates so you have a real number to put on the notice, and our notice to contribute guide explains the form and the timing.

My Logan Central block backs onto a park. Does council pay half the fence?

No. Logan City Council is not an adjoining owner, so it does not contribute to a fence between parkland and a residential lot. That fence is yours to build and pay for. It is also the most exposed side of the block, with nobody maintaining anything on the other side, which is a good argument for aluminium over timber: no rust, no rot, a 10 year warranty on the aluminium, and bolt-on panels that swap out on their own if a branch comes down. FY Fencing can quote a park-side run in Logan Central as supply-only or as measure, make and install.

Can I pick up fencing from the FY Fencing yard in Slacks Creek?

Yes, and pickup is free. The yard and showroom are at Unit 2/3363 Pacific Hwy, Slacks Creek QLD 4127, open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm, closed Sunday. Standard panels, posts, caps, brackets and hardware are usually on the shelf, and a custom size ordered today is often ready to collect tomorrow. Ring 0478 577 688 before you drive over so the order is packed and waiting, and bring a ute or trailer, because a 2400 mm panel will not fit in a hatchback. Delivery across South East Queensland is available at a charge quoted per suburb.

What does aluminium fencing cost in Logan?

Panels start from $279 for horizontal slat, from $368 for vertical picket and from $399 for welded vertical blade, all 2400 mm wide (vertical picket 2350 mm) at 1200 mm or 1800 mm high. Posts start from $42 and pedestrian gates from $295. Driveway gates are quote only, because width, fall and motor change every job. Your total depends on run length, height and how many gates, so send measurements or book a free measure and FY Fencing will send a written quote that is valid for 30 days. Supply-only prices are wholesale; an installed quote covers the measure, the panels and the labour.

Does FY Fencing supply pool fencing in Logan?

No. FY Fencing does not supply pool fencing or pool-safety barriers, and we do not quote them, in Logan or anywhere else. Our panels and gates are boundary, front and privacy fencing, and a pool barrier is a separate product with its own compliance rules, so please use a business that specialises in pool barriers for that part of the job. If a pool is only one part of your block, we are happy to quote the boundary and driveway sections and leave the pool side to the pool barrier installer, and we will say so plainly on the quote.

Which style suits a front fence in Shailer Park or Rochedale South?

Most front fences we make in Shailer Park and Rochedale South are horizontal slat at 1200 mm or 1800 mm high, because the slats read well on a sloping frontage and a raked or stepped panel follows the fall without looking patched. Vertical picket suits an older weatherboard or brick front where you want to see through to the garden, and welded vertical blade gives the most privacy and the most rigid panel. All three come in Black (Night Sky), Monument and White, and the Slacks Creek showroom has panels side by side, which is worth the short drive before you commit to a colour.

How does FY Fencing handle a sloping block in Daisy Hill?

We measure it ourselves rather than asking you to guess the fall. On a Daisy Hill ridge the panels are either raked, so the rails follow the slope, or stepped, so each panel stays level and drops a set amount at the post. Raked panels suit a gentle, even fall and stepped panels suit a steep or uneven one. Because the panels are welded locally to suit the terrain, we can make each panel to the height that its own section of ground needs, which a one-size flat-pack panel cannot do. Bring photos of the fence line to the quote and we will suggest which way to go.

Sliding or swing driveway gate for a Springwood driveway?

Springwood is full of short, steep driveways, and on those a swing gate hits the rising concrete before it is halfway open, so a sliding gate that runs along the fence line is the usual answer. A sliding gate needs clear room beside the driveway, a little more than the gate width, for it to slide into. Where the block is flat and there is no side room, a single or double swing gate works instead. FY Fencing makes both to order, assembled or fully welded, and the measure and quote are free, so ask us to look at the driveway before you decide.

Does FY Fencing install gate motors in Loganholme and Cornubia?

Yes. Sliding gate motors start from $770 and swing gate motors from $1,100, and we fit them as part of an installed job in Loganholme, Cornubia and the rest of Logan. The power connection is not included, so you arrange an electrician to run power to the motor and we set the gate, the track and the motor. On a sloping driveway the footings and ground clearance are what make or break an automated gate, which is why we prefer to install automated gates rather than sell the motor on its own, though supply-only kits are available.

Can I buy a supply-only DIY fence kit from FY Fencing in Slacks Creek?

Yes. A supply-only kit is panels, posts, caps, brackets and hardware at wholesale prices, with a pedestrian gate, or an assembled or fully welded driveway gate, if you want one, collected free from the Slacks Creek yard or delivered for a per-suburb charge. We cut custom widths and heights, so send a sketch with measurements and we will list exactly what you need. Confident DIYers and the trades working across Logan use this option every week. If you would rather not dig the footings yourself, the same kit can be quoted as measure, make and install instead, with the panels made to your block.

How long does an installed fence in Marsden or Crestmead take?

Custom panels are made at Slacks Creek, and many custom orders are ready the day after they are placed, so the wait is usually for the install slot rather than the materials. The install itself for a Marsden or Crestmead boundary run depends on the length, the fall and whether an old timber fence has to come out first, and wet weather or heavy clay footings can add a day. We give you a start date with the quote and confirm it before we come out, and if the job includes an automated gate the electrician can be booked for the same week.

What warranty does FY Fencing give on a fence in Logan?

Ten years on the aluminium, the same in every Logan suburb whether you buy supply-only or installed. Aluminium does not rust, so the usual failure points of a fence in a humid climate are not there, and a panel that is damaged by a car or a falling branch is unbolted and replaced on its own rather than the whole run coming down. Keep your quote and invoice, because the warranty follows the purchase, and give the powder coat a rinse now and then so grime does not sit on it.

Can FY Fencing replace an old timber fence in Kingston or Underwood?

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do in Kingston and Underwood, where a lot of the original timber is past saving. We pull out the old fence, dig new footings and set aluminium posts and panels, or if you are going supply-only we make the panels to the same run for you to fit. If the fence is a shared boundary, start by talking to your neighbour and, if needed, serving a notice to contribute, and our guide on that explains the steps. A firm quote from us makes that conversation a lot easier for both of you.

Does FY Fencing deliver to Beenleigh, Waterford and Jimboomba?

Yes. Delivery across South East Queensland is quoted per suburb, so Beenleigh at about 17 km, Waterford at about 14 km and Jimboomba at about 30 km each get their own delivery figure on the quote. Yard pickup from Slacks Creek is free if you have a ute or trailer that can take a 2400 mm panel, and posts, caps and brackets come bundled with the panels. We also measure, make and install in all three, so if the job includes a driveway gate on a sloping drive it can be easier to let us bring everything and fit it in one visit.

How do I pay FY Fencing for fencing in Logan?

Cash, bank transfer, or credit and debit card in store at the Slacks Creek yard. Card payments are in store only, so if you are having a kit delivered to Browns Plains or Beenleigh, bank transfer is the simplest way to settle before it leaves the yard. Quotes are written and valid for 30 days, so you can take one home, check it against the covenant or talk it over with a neighbour on a shared boundary, and come back to it without the price moving. Keep the invoice, because the warranty follows the purchase.

Where in Logan is the FY Fencing showroom and when is it open?

The yard and showroom are at Unit 2/3363 Pacific Hwy, Slacks Creek QLD 4127, on the Pacific Highway minutes from the Springwood and Underwood exits of the M1, and a short run from Logan Hyperdome and Underwood Marketplace. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm, closed Sunday. You can see slat, picket and blade panels in Black, Monument and White side by side, pick up an order, or sit down with measurements for a quote.
